About

and Stuck? is aimed at students who are at, or about to be at, key decision points within education.

As a Career Coach, I’ve increasingly found that my clients are talking to me about students who are family members, and who are struggling with what to do next or how to get into the kind of work they are interested in.

I’m Sarah, and I have 2 sons aged 23 and 19, and they too experienced tricky decisions when they decided they didn’t want to stick with traditional routes for sixth form.

Alongside my work with senior career professionals, I decided that I want to help students with working out what is next and so have developed a series of workbooks (16 and Stuck?, 18 and Stuck? and Out of Uni and Stuck? which each focus on those key milestones within education. I worked with Ellie Davey on the illustrations for these books. Ellie is a young artist currently studying for a BA in Comic & Concept Art. Each book starts with a comic strip which follows a character through some of the issues that students face. There are then a series of exercises to help work out options for what might come next.

I also offer 1:1 coaching sessions and guest lectures at education establishments.

Students

If you are struggling to work out what you want to do next, then there are some options I can help you with.

If you prefer self- learning, then I have a series of books which work through a series of exercises, so that by the end you’ll have a plan of action. I’ve also created a digital course – LinkedIn Secrets for Smart Students, which takes you through what you need to know about optimising your profile on LinkedIn.

1. Student Career Hour: A one hour session, via zoom, tailored to your needs, whether it’s CV advice, exploring career options, or breaking into a specific industry.

2. LinkedIn Secrets for Smart Students: A focused 1:1 zoom session to help build a standout profile and use LinkedIn effectively to find opportunities. Yes, this may have been covered at college, but I guarantee I will give more specific guidance.

Parents

Are you worried about your child’s next steps?

I can help.

I’ve been hearing from a growing number of parents, concerned about their child’s future as they approach the end of education.

As students step out of the classroom for the last time, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed by the choices and uncertainty about the future.

I’ve developed a series of workbooks and a digital course specifically for students, as well as offering 1:1 coaching via zoom for a ‘career chat’ (where your student child can talk about whatever they want to – whether that’s how they have no idea what to do, to get ideas of how to break into a particular role, help with applications or interviews, or CV review and tips) or my LinkedIn for Smart Students Session.

Support for you!

To help parents like you, who want to assist and support their children as much as possible, I offer a Parent Consultation Service, tailored to provide clarity and practical advice.

Educators

If you are responsible for a group of students, I can help with guest lecturing!

My speciality is showing students how they can use LinkedIn to manage and develop their careers. I’ve spoken at sixth form colleges and universities as part of open days, alumni events and as part of the study program for business and marketing students.

Always interactive, I encourage delegates to bring their laptops to make updates as we go, and ask for volunteers to share their career ideas so that we can work through real examples of how to find relevant content and job vacancies.
